Hotel GEO
What is hotel GEO?
Hotel GEO is the work of making a hotel's own website usable — and citable — by generative engines when someone asks for a place to stay. It is measured as a binary: did the property appear in the answer, or not.

Why are hotels at a disadvantage?
For travel questions, the documents an engine leans on are mostly OTAs, review sites and blogs. A hotel's own site competes poorly there. Hotel websites are also built around photographs and a booking button, which leaves an engine very little prose to quote.
What comes up most often?
Aggregated across the 19 properties we measured. Not a single hotel's case.
| Finding | Hotels | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| No machine-readable Hotel markup | 18/19 | Rooms, address and check-in facts are not recognised as hotel data |
| No H1 heading | 17/19 | Weaker signal about what the page is actually about |
These are signals observed on the page. We do not turn a signal into a claim about indexing without checking the outcome separately.
What we check
- Can an AI crawler read the body text at all — without JavaScript, and without a robots rule blocking it?
- Are the facts an engine would quote present as text, rather than baked into images?
- Is the same property scattered across several names or hostnames?
- Does each language have its own address, and do those addresses reference each other?
- Is the basic machine-readable structure present?
What we do not claim
- We do not report rankings. The same query returns different answers on different runs.
- We do not guarantee visibility. On-page work is necessary, not sufficient.
- We do not measure every engine, and we name the ones we did not measure.
Do you need to rebuild the site?
No. We work on top of the CMS you already use and hand the fixes to your existing agency.
